Immune conditions
I was recommended Dr Amet through family members and I am extremely pleased to say that she did not disappoint !
I have had issues with eczema most of my life and after life events and lifestyle changes I found that I was struggling to manage it. I contacted Dr Amet and was given a very thorough initial consultation and follow up appointments. She has been extremely supportive and very easy to contact. Dr Amet did not pressure me to make any unnecessary appointments with her and allowed me to decide when I needed to follow up with her. Everything that she recommended helped my skin and within just a few weeks, I noticed a drastic improvement—my skin became smoother, less inflamed, and the itching subsided. The overall discomfort I had been living with for so long is now much more manageable. I can’t recommend Dr Amet enough!

Immune conditions are disorders that arise from abnormalities or dysfunctions in the immune system. They can be broadly categorised into three main types:
Autoimmune Diseases
The immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own cells and tissues.
Examples: Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes.
Immune Deficiency Disorders
The immune system is underactive, leading to an inability to fight infections effectively.
Examples: Primary immunodeficiency (e.g., severe combined immunodeficiency), secondary immunodeficiency (e.g., Lyme disease and associated co-infections).
Allergic Disorders and Hypersensitivities
The immune system overreacts to harmless substances (allergens) like pollen, dust, or certain foods.
Examples: Asthma, eczema, anaphylaxis.
An immune condition is often associated with chronic fatigue and can be associated with depression.
There are over 80 autoimmune diseases recognised and it is estimated that auto-immunity affect 5-8% of the population in Western countries, with some studies suggesting higher rates.
Women are disproportionately affected (about 75% of cases).
Infections are often the trigger to an autoimmune condition, they could be viral and/or bacterial.
A key step in addressing an autoimmune condition is to gain a reliable diagnosis of the infections a person may be having.
A second step is to identify the factors that contribute to the immune system not being in balance. The Lauriston Centre can help in diagnosis infections and immune imbalances and will provide a step by step plan to help regain a healthy immune system. Functional nutrition rebalances the immune system by addressing dietary triggers, supporting gut and cellular health, and ensuring optimal nutrient intake. By treating the root causes of immune dysfunction, this approach not only alleviates symptoms but also promotes long-term immune resilience.
Our practitioner Anna Pinnock is certified Autoimmune Paleo (AIP) coach specialising in autoimmune health.
Anna has surpassed all expectations. You can easily see the deep effort, care and research she invests in each case she handles. When I initially came to her, I was plagued by an overwhelming sense of fatigue, a lack of motivation, digestive issues, hypertension, and daily headaches. However, through her guidance and recommendations, I have seen a remarkable improvement in all of these areas.
