Medical Doctor (GP), Registered Functional Nutrition Therapist, specialising in chronic illnesses and women's health.

Hello, I am Suparna. I am a Functional Nutrition Therapist registered with BANT and CNHC. I am also a medical doctor who has worked as a GP for the last twenty years. I have extensive experience managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, gut health problems, and women's health. My experience has shown me the crucial role nutrition and lifestyle play in managing these chronic illnesses and their integral part in gut health.

I have learned the importance of providing an integrative and comprehensive approach to health and well-being, rather than just focusing on diseases and medications. As a Functional Nutrition Therapist, I use a whole-person approach to identify the root cause of health issues and provide a personalised nutrition plan. This involves thorough data gathering of symptoms, diet and lifestyle analysis, family history, and detailed biomedical and physiological profiles to develop tailored nutritional and supplement plans. I have a particular interest in women's health, including PCOS, endometriosis, PMS, perimenopause, and menopause, as I have personally experienced endometriosis and wish to help others.

In my current role, collaborating with other healthcare professionals is essential in managing health conditions. As a Nutrition Therapist, I work alongside other nutritionists, clients' general practitioners, specialist doctors, psychologists, and others as needed.

My academic background includes a medical degree from India, with postgraduate qualifications in general practice, paediatrics, and child health from the Royal Colleges in London. I also hold a Master's in Primary Care from Queen Mary University, London, and a postgraduate certificate in Diabetes Care from Warwick University. I trained as a Functional Nutritionist at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London, under the University of Portsmouth, completing the Graduate Diploma in Functional Nutrition, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to implement effective, evidence-based interventions. I am registered and regulated by BANT (British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine) and CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council). I am also a member of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM).
